The Ex Factor is always a complex factor and what if your ex shows up in your life once again? This is what happens in this delightful and very light-hearted read by Harini Srinivasan.
Book Review
You are going to find this one very relatable as it is full of drama that you usually see in your daily lives. Be it the mother’s nagging about household chores and every little thing or the office gossip and bitching among colleagues.
Also, the urge to run away from everything, be it old people or the old city after a bad breakup which is so hard to handle as the main protagonist does is what most of us feel.
The book aptly describes what today’s young generation goes through. The want to start a new life, to experience living in a hostel away from parents, that one close friend who is your confidante, everything is so relatable. The story takes you into the messed-up life of the main protagonist who is working hard to meet the demands of her ever so demanding boss in the office and a chaotic life at home.
Oh, Did I tell you that the main protagonist is a K-Drama fan who just like many of us finds her escape in romantic K-Dramas and Netflix. (She knows Korean too which she is not really happy about – Now who tells that silly lady that many of young girls want to learn Korean just to watch their favorite stars in K-Drama and K-Pop)
The inner monologues help us understand her true feelings. What does she actually want to say?; How she is controlling her anger ?; and her inner turmoil, all can be understood through the monologues.
You can feel the struggle of the protagonist to cope with her emotions when she faces her ex again after so many years while being already annoyed by her transfer to Shillong.
The stern look that she tries to keep while facing him or holding back tears while seeing her ex with someone else.
The scenes between the main character Oindrilla and her Ex Vivek are some of the most entertaining in the book.
In the end, you will find yourself rooting for them to get together, but will the love rekindle or will she move on keeping her ex as her ex only? I am not going to spoil that for you.
But I can tell you, whatever happens, happens for the best. So wait for the best ending. This book is a reminder that love can be found anywhere, even in the most unlikely of places.
If you’re looking for a fun and romantic read, I highly recommend The Ex Factor.

P.S. – If you want to improve your vocabulary this book contains many good words. (However, you have to ignore the desi words and F*** words that are used quite a few times in the book)
